International Summer School on Theatre in Social Context 2019
23 August – 6 September 2019Archa.lab
The Archa Theatre will again transform into a large laboratory of contemporary theatre this year. Students will have the opportunity to explore and develop artistic tools to produce work in the field of documentary theatre. The ateliers will focus on the Viewpoints method and textual sources of documentary theatre, music and sound design, video and multimedia, objects as story source, light design, and movement on stage. In addition, participants will have the chance to attend exclusive lectures by internationally acclaimed artists and scholars. Participants will also form creative groups and work on a short performance that they will present at the Archa Theatre by using the theatrical skills they acquired in the ateliers. During this creative process, all lecturers will be available for artistic consultation.
The working language of the school is English.

Our aim
The Archa Theatre's summer school promotes individual and collective discoveries in theatrical creation, and helps participants find their own voice in their creative processes. The summer school is a platform for reflection on and communication of experience, knowledge and ideas in the field of documentary and social-specific theatre. We strive to achieve new ways of thinking by creating open formats of interaction between participants.
The International Summer School on Theatre in Social Context cooperates with individuals, cultural organizations and educational institutions. We aim to interconnect related learning systems, and build a creative network of artists with a similar approach to contemporary theatre.
Participants come back!
To develop their projects, summer school participants can apply for a short-term residency in Archa.lab in the following year. Each residency ends with a public presentation and debate.
